From Parents:
“What can I say about this camp but I LOVE IT!! My daughter has been going for 3-4 years now. She has loved it every year. The excursions they chose are perfect for that age range. She looks forward to it EVERY summer! She meets new friends. She has a blast. It is reasonable. The hours are perfect if you work! The counselors are lovely ladies all very supportive and positive. I adored Stacey- (Director who passed) She was my camp counselor when I was a little kid!!- I also adore Heather and I know Heather has maintained the camp without her in such a wonderful, loving and respectful way- I love her passion for the kids and this camp. I have to say every year I ask my girl, “do you want to do it again?” She always says with enthusiasm “YES”. My other daughter cannot wait to turn 9 so she can go as well! Try it- your daughter will love it and so will you!”
“As a graduate of Mills College and the mother of two daughters, I’m very much aware of “Girl Power.” Girls on the Go is all about “Girl Power,” making new friendships and becoming independent. While my daughter loved the field trips, she also liked the “journey” getting to a destination on public transportation. My daughter was nervous about not attending camp with a friend. Those feelings quickly disappeared and were replaced with daily anticipation of playing with her new friends. In fact, this year she’s hoping to see some of these “old” friends again. We love the camp so much, we asked Stacy and Heather for permission to mail brochures and sample schedules to our friends. We’re spreading the word about what a blast this camp is! Naturally, we are planning our entire summer camp schedule around Girls on the Go!”
“If we weren’t living in Danville, my daughter would be going to GOTG this summer. She went last summer and loved it. They meet in a park, do activities, games and regular camp stuff (songs, cheers, bonding things, etc), and then every single day, they go on a field trip of sorts via foot, bus, BART, etc. The field trips vary, but the session my daughter went to she toured Scharffenberger, CAL, they saw a play in WC, they went to ZUEM, and a baseball game along with a few other places.”
“This is a camp that empowers girls. This camp ROCKS and thanks again Kimberly for reminding me that if you are lucky, great teachers sometimes also ‘moonlight’ at great camps which allows for an even better experience.”

From Staff:
“In short, there’s no other day camp like this one. Not only is it active, engaging, different every day, and growth-promoting in so many ways…it’s ALL GIRLS. What a great age to spend time with other amazing females during the summer! The staff are always such great role models and easily get close to campers…while the girls can really get into their own and feel connected to their peers and leaders. I’ve worked one summer at Girls on the Go, and I can attest to its originality and spark. Heather Mitchell, founding director, is a great woman herself; full of warmth, creative energy, and amazingly good ideas for each field trip the girls go on. Girls on the Go is great for learning how to use public transportation as well, since that’s all we use to get around town! I’m so excited to work again this summer…looking forward to spending the (hopefully) hot afternoons in such a great camp environment!”
“As a former counselor for Girls on the Go, I can attest to the camp’s thorough organization, positive and empowering environment for girls, and the well-trained and thoughtful staff. Also, this camp features some of the highest quality activities, workshops and outings for campers that I have experienced as a seasoned camp counselor and teacher. If you are looking for a meaningful experience for your child this summer, look no further — Girls on the Go is it. She will make new friends, try new and exciting things, visit new places, and become a more confident person. I would absolutely send my own child to this camp.”
“GOTG allows girls to be able to do all of the best things there are to do in the Bay Area within a group of friends and caring adults. It also delivers empowerment and hands on education of the public transportation system which exposes them to independence and responsibility.”
“Girls on the Go delivers a power punch of creative projects, free play, local adventures and community building into each rich and colorful day of camp.”
From Campers:
“The good memories of the previous summer at Girls on the Go brought me back to camp. I wish the program could be extended an extra week, some of us would be happy to stay longer. It was great fun!”
